Waves 2012 - The Lookback

If one were to judge college festivals simply by the nature of how fast they grow, Waves would probably stand unparalleled in India. Ever since its inception in 2005, it has gone to become one of the biggest and highly anticipated culfests in the region, and some would say, in the country.

So what makes Waves special, one might ask? What makes it stand out from amongst the thousands that are already there?

Is it the wave after wave of participation, coming from each corner of the country and even beyond, all participating into close to 40 events spanning 7 categories - Dance, Drama, Music, Literary, Quiz, Fine Arts and the ever popular Big 4 events? Or the full force of exotic Goa, brought down to a single location through a variety of stalls, exhibitions and performances? Or the incredible learning opportunities available through the workshops - ranging from Ventriloquism to Origami to Palmistry to Shoe Painting? Or the Special Nites, the pinnacle of the extravaganza, previously having witnessed the likes of Kailash Kher, K K, Indian Ocean, Parikrama, Blackstrat Blues, carnatic rock artists Agam, DJ Suketu and DJ Sidharth of Metallica fame, in addition to two of the best voices from across the border- rock outfit Raeth, and the ever mesmerizing Shafqat Amanat Ali?
