Beauty

The ugly people of the world have devised so many ways of making themselves feel better that they’ve turned being unattractive into something of a virtue. It’s fashionable to resent, bitch about and generally denigrate beautiful, more attractive people. And no, I’m not talking about Inner Beauty(TM) and all that rubbish. I’m referring to plain old good looks. Most of it is harmless self-consolation, but there are some blatantly annoying lines whose makers I would love to kill slowly and painfully.

“Beauty is only skin deep.”
Yeah, and that isn’t deep enough? What the hell are you going to do with a cute appendix?

“Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”
Of course it does. If the beholder is beholding a painstakingly air-brushed photo of Megan Fox, that is.

“Beauty without brains is nothing.”
Bullshit. Beauties without brains will survive all right, thank you very much. Compare their numbers to those of well-known brainy non-beauties, you’ll see what I mean.

“Beauty is not in the face, it is a light in the heart.”
Yeah, that’s exactly why the main contributors to the billion-dollar cosmetic industry are the ugliest of people. With beautiful, light-filled hearts, of course.

Get over yourselves and work a little toward getting that perfect tan, those perfect lips. Beauty comes cheap these days, and it’s a shame if you still have to resort to childish, resentful tactics just so you can make yourselves feel better.
